with all my heart…

29 Jul

This is for my doctor, for whom I can not get on the phone today other than to speak to her ASSistant, Marvin.  The Doctor that seemed SO concerned that I might have a cyst on my jaw and the source of constant headaches, decides through Marvin, that I do not need further testing to see if it IS a cyst?!  Are there ANY caregivers out there that actually give CARE?  or CARE?

I’m already preparing for a second opinion…just needed a safe place to vent.  Oh and BTW thanks for turning of your cell phone during our appointment, Doctor…a consummate professional, hmmf.

yarn over

28 Jul

maybe you recall I mentioned something about crochet…and me trying to learn.  It still is a work in progress…most of the time I do not know where I’m going with this…like my life!     But, I’ll keep moving forward and yarn over as with everything.  (especially as I committed and bought 8 skeins of Lion Brand Cupcake yarn)

c’est la vie

27 Jul

Already it is a good day!  I woke up to one of my favorite Etsy stores having a BOGO sale!  You can get this one C’est La Vie by Dazeychic and another of your choice for a limited time.

This was my other choice:

ces petits riens

20 Jul

loving this song, Ces Petits Riens right now from Stacey Kent…it means the “those little things”

It is making for a lovely respite from the craziness that has become my life and reminds me to treasure all those little things around me!  Also, I’ve decided to learn to crochet…I am teaching myself…it is not going well.   I am reading a non-fiction book my mother passed to me, The House Always Wins: America’s Most Trusted Home Columnist’s Guide to Creating Your (Almost) Perfect Dream House.  It is humorous in parts and informative in others…but there is a part of me that just wants to slug the author, who writes from specifying and decorating her dream home, and say “stop your whining…at least you have the money to do this and a roof over your head!”  Do you ever feel like some people obsess about their homes in the way we did about our lives as high schoolers…as THESE are the MOST important decisions WE will make for the REST of our L-I-V-E-S!!! Yeah…I love my home and I love making it my home but I’ve never lost sleep over any decorating dilemma or had a salesperson take a Valium as I vacillated over three shades of the same green tile.  Go with your instincts and what makes you happy!

***Update 7/26/10 – I officially hate this book; I just got to the chapter that she uses a hot glue gun to make drapery.  I’m no sewing machine whiz but there is a little thing called fusible web (I think stitch witchery is a brand)…you just iron it in place and you are done…I can just imagine on a hot summer day her drapes falling apart…what an imbecile.

hi ho

12 Jul

…off to work I go!  At least that is what it has felt like for the last two weeks.  I have worked everyday without exception and when I go home I work more.  The realities of owning your own business *pinches self*

Here is what I did squeeze out for myself in my minuscule personal time:

This adorable Market Bag from Posie Gets Cozy.  It’s my first real attempt at sewing anything…let alone from a pattern.  I hand cross stitched the initial on the front pocket.  C was very impressed and immediately brought it to one of our friends that sews professionally and she laughed at it…laughed.  I still love it…she did think my cross stitch was machined…so, at least I can do that respectfully!

Our little nestlings left the nest yesterday.  That was quick…I was hoping we could enjoy them a little longer.  At least the mail lady will be pleased that mama won’t screech at her delivering the mail any longer.

And on my day off today (working I tell you!)…this is what I’ve been doing.  Loading all these neat mosaics my friend does and sells at the shop on our main website.  Have you seen it yet?  You should, we are really the most fantastic store you’ve never heard about…I swear, no bias in that statement…whatsoever!  Har har.

ballerina project

9 Jul

I just happened upon this delicious site of photography dedicated to ballet, the ballerina, and the outside world of the city.   It is called simply: the Ballerina Project; taken from their Facebook page:

The Ballerina Project grew from the idea of New York City as a magnet for creativity; each photograph is a collaborative work of dance, fashion design and photography played out against the city’s landscape.

I love it; maybe because I like musicals where people spontaneously burst into song and dance?  These images make me believe that the beauty of music and movement can exist in everyday life.  Prints are available for purchase (I would be first in line if I did not have dust bunnies in my bank account) and even a book.

en progress:

8 Jul

something’s getting done…finally.  More later.
